It is important that we pay homage to a truly iconic woman who changed the fashion industry. On April 7th at the age of 81, the renowned Lily Pulitzer passed away. Lilly Pulitzer who was known for her bright colorful and cheerful prints began her company while working at a juice stand in Florida. One day she wore a colorfully printed dress to hide juice stains and that set the inspiration for her company. The company that is known for their classic shift dress gained attention when first lady at the time, Jacqueline Kennedy was seen wearing a Lilly Pulitzer dress while on vacation.
Her company carries not only woman’s wear but also men’s wear, children’s wear and household goods. All of her products have the same esthetic and prints. Her clothing evokes a lifestyle seen in Florida and New York’s Hampton resorts. The brand is extremely popular within high society and she was often called the “Queen of Prep.”
After her death her company released a statement saying, “Lilly has been a true inspiration to us and we will miss her. Lilly was a true original who has brought together generations through her bright and happy mark on the world.”
